چکیده
Background: Clozapine, an atypical antipsychotic agent, is effective for relapse or refractory schizophrenia that has failed to respond other medications. Despite its effectiveness, clozapine a higher risk of metabolic syndrome than antipsychotics. Objective: This research aimed identify the correlation between and syndrome, such as obesity, cholesterol, blood glucose levels, in schizophrenic patients at Ghrasia Mental Hospital, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Method: cross-sectional research. Subjects who met inclusion criteria were randomly sampled from outpatients November 2021 February 2022. The collected medical record data (characteristic patients, medication patterns, body mass index) analysed profiles (cholesterol levels). descriptively statistically. Result: Among 71 this research, 37 (52.11%) male 34 (47.89%) female, with average age 36-45 years. treatment patterns follows: 44 taking only 27 did not use clozapine. Clozapine was frequently combined risperidone haloperidol Bivariate analysis using Fisher's Exact test revealed no significant use, regimen (single combined), duration therapy (>= 5 years), dose (high low) hypercholesterolemia, hyperglycemia. Meanwhile, multivariate gender obesity (p < 0.05), women having 0.299 men. effects on hypercholesterolemia hyperglycemia insignificant. Conclusion: There found syndrome. Gender have

Negative Correlation between Serum S100B and Leptin Levels in Schizophrenic Patients During Treatment with Clozapine and Risperidone: Preliminary Evidence
Recently, extensive efforts have been made to understand the rate of energy expenditure and the weight gain associated with atypical antipsychotic treatment, including identification of markers of obesity risk. In recent years, leptin, an adipocyte hormone, has gained significant interest in psychiatric disorders. S100B has been considered as a surrogate marker for astrocyte-specific damage in ...

متن کاملCorrelation between Diet Quality and Metabolic Syndrome
Background: The metabolic syndrome (MetS) is increasing with an alarming rate world wide. Since diet components' studies that focus on MetS have produced largely inconsistent results, assessing the whole diet than single nutrients on health can be more practical. The purpose of this study was to determine the association between diet quality and MetS components. Methods: This cross-sectional st...
متن کاملCorrelation between metabolic syndrome factors and cigarette smoking
Introduction: Cigarette smoking is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. Previous studies demonstrate the adverse effects of smoking on serum lipid profile but there is no evidence that smoking is correlated with metabolic syndrome components such as lipid profile and obesity. The purpose of this study is evaluating lifestyle factors like smoking on metabolic syndrome compo...
